About Us

Why Blader Union?

It started with a simple idea. Centralize content from our fractured landscape to surface, promote, and display the best inline skating content from around the world.

Over the last 5 years, we've been working on a simple idea. Centralize the numerous inline skating sites, content, and media from across the web and consolidate it all in one source. Blader Union was born from that idea. Our small global community has numerous outlets and sources for content to surface, and we don't have a central way to help promote that content. We became a neutral party to help everyone grow by giving you central location to explore everything inline skating has to offer. The landscape has shifted from physical media of the past, to virtual media of the future. Message boards have shrunk in both size and popularity. As information becomes more quickly and widely available, finding all of this information becomes a challenge. Some content overcomes these hurdles and gets spread to the masses, but many great pieces are left only to the locals to discover and share.

Blader Union's focus is to remove boundaries between content creators and communities, and to generate more traffic and visibility without having to scour the web for great content. We do not want to take away from the great pieces that places like Be-Mag, Wheel Scene, or One provide, but instead help them find a larger audience. By staying neutral, we can provide a home for the best inline skating content shared around the globe regardless of discipline, locations, or personal flavor. With in-house created content as well, we will be home to everything great that is being published in skating, everyday.

Through the backers of our Patreon campaign we are able to pay riders, photographers, podcasters, and event organizers for completing projects with us. In the last year we have been able to successfully pay Eugen Enin through our Crowd Funded project, we’ve backed the Truspin Podcast and many of their guests, and sponsored the No Pain, No Gain contest. Collectively as of January 1st, 2018, we’ve raised over $1,000 that has been reinvested directly into inline skating. All of the funds we’ve collected are displayed and accounted for through quarterly transparency reports. No more money being hemorrhaged out of the industry through advertisements and 3rd party hosting. Instead of having to pay us for ads, we give companies and creators a platform to stand on and show the world what they have to offer. Take the money you are spending on sites that don’t create content or give back to our industry, and invest it into your riders and faithful supporters. If you have an idea, suggestion, or would like to promote something, our email addresses are at the top of the page. Reach out and let us know.

Supporting Blader Union is simple. You can back our Patreon through a monthly pledge that can range from as a little as $1 up to any amount you’d like to contribute. No matter what amount you're able to spare, collectively, our backers help us further our impact globally. Share the site with your friends and fellow skaters. We do not make money from ads or clicks, but many of our linked videos, linked sites, and professionals do. The more time you spend exploring great content, the better it is for everyone involved. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook @BladerUnion. And lastly, get out and share the love of inline skating. Whether it’s with the kids at the local park, your friends who quit skating 20 years ago, or anyone else you cross paths with. It doesn’t matter if you ride 8 down, freestyle, big wheels, trinity mount, or Argon’s. Skating is skating, and skaters are skaters. Lose the egos, lose the cliques, share the love.

If you ever have questions, complaints, compliments, or would like to work together on any project big or small, do not hesitate to reach out. We are always evolving, always growing, and always bettering the site and ourselves daily. Your feedback is always welcome. Join in and support inline skating because together, we can shape the future and make it brighter for everyone still here and everyone who’s yet to arrive. At the end of the day, this is a labor of love for us here. Nothing matters more than the skates on our feet. - Blader Union

We also sat down with Brian Krans to discuss the site. You can listen to the full podcast here.
